Paediatric First Aid

2 Day Course

The Paediatric First Aid course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel, nannies, Nursery workers, Pre-school workers, parents, grandparents and anyone else who has a responsibility for a child’s or infant’s welfare whilst in your care.

This two-day course satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and OFSTED.


Assessment is on-going throughout the course by the instructor, and a three year Paediatric Emergency First Aid certificate will be issued to those that meet the criteria.

The certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of the training.

On completing this course you will be able to:

  • Administer Paediatric First Aid

    • Administer Paediatric First Aid in the Workplace
    • Provide First Aid for an infant or child who is unresponsive and breathing normally
    • Administer and perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
    • Provide First Aid to an infant or child with external bleeding
    • Deal with chronic medical conditions and illnesses
    • Provide First Aid to an infant or child who has suffered an electric shock
    • Deal with many other common paediatric illnesses and injuries
  • Assess

    • Understand the role and responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider
    • Be able to assess an incident
    • Perform a secondary survey
    • Recognise and assist an infant or child who is choking
    • Recognise common conditions affecting the eyes ears and nose
  • Manage Casualties

    • Manage an unresponsive infant or child who is not breathing normally
    • Manage an infant or a child who is in shock
    • Manage a suspected fracture or Dislocation
    • Manage head, neck and back injuries
    • Manage the effects of extreme heat or cold
